South Ayrshire Council Libraries and Museums Service is the custodian of the Council’s museum and art collections and it has a role in developing cultural activities for the community of South Ayrshire and its visitors. The role of the Museums Service is to enhance the quality of life in the community by promoting understanding and appreciation of the cultural heritage of the locality, and the wider cultural heritage. The Museums Service AIMS to:

  • Promote, preserve, protect and develop the rich cultural heritage of South Ayrshire
  • To make a visit a welcoming and fulfilling experience for the public
  • Provide stimulating museums and galleries activities for the community and its visitors
  • Support local art and craft workers
  • Encourage the development of tourism to South Ayrshire
The purpose of this online catalogue is to allow the extensive collections held by South Ayrshire Council and the Maclaurin Trust to be viewed and appreciated throughout the world.
